NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.
Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
At Whitebridge High School SRE takes place in Year 7 during a 1 hour period fortnightly with the day for 2019 still to be confirmed. Year 7 students were issued the SRE participation letter in Term 1 2019 to complete and return. 2% of Year 7 students have elected to participate. There is one SRE group run under the auspices of the Charlestown Christian Education Association. Parents can change their preference for SRE enrolment at any time, notification of changes should be given to the Principal in writing.
Information on the curriculum followed by the SRE group can be found at the following link http://ccea.org.au/sreinyear7.html
Currently there is no provision for Special Ethics Education (SEE) in secondary schools.
During the time that SRE classes are being held, SRE students will be located in a separate space whilst students not attending will remain in their classrooms and will participate in meaningful activities that could include reading, private study or completing homework.
